In the liberalised European electricity market the basis for contract design and price level is based on wholesale price calculations. Many companies have realised the strategical importance of the electricity wholesale market and have attached a high priority on raising know-how levels in this area. This article reflects the evolution of the German wholesale market and offers an overview of the present and future developments.
