Numerical model of wind waves with the dynamic near-water layer

摘要
A new numerical spectral model of wind waves in deep water is developed. It is based on the following distinctive elements of the source function: (a) a new analytical parametrization of the nonlinear mechanism of evolution [1], (b) the conventional term of wave forcing by wind that is supplemented by a block taking into account the adjustment of the near-water layer to the state of waves [2], and (c) the quadratic (in wave spectrum) dissipation function developed in more recent models [3-5]. Model tests for the case of a forward run have shown the adequacy of the model in describing the main empirical effects of wave development. Additionally, the model correctly reproduces the evolution of the parameters of the near-water air layer depending on the stage of wave development, which allows a physical interpretation of these dependences. The listed properties of the model make it possible to use it for both applied and research purposes.
