摘要
In this research work, activated Typha latifolia has been used as biosorbent for removal of metal ions, such as Pb(II), Cu(II) and Mn(II) from aqueous media. Batch adsorption method has been used over the pH range 1 to 8. The biosorbent Typha latifolia has been treated chemically with 0.1 M HNO3 and 1M K2CO3 and heated to 573 K to enhance the removal efficiency of Typha latifolia. Tyha latifolia has been characterised by FTIR to know the metal binding sites which play important role in the process of extraction. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images of raw and thermally activated Typha latifolia have been recorded to investigate the difference in structure, pore size, volume and active sites of biosorbent in both cases. The adsorption equilibrium has been studied by using the Freundlich, Langmuir isotherm models by applying different concentrations of the solution of sorbate. The maximum sorption uptake of the metal ions by using activated Typha latifolia is of the following order Pb(II) > Cu(II) > Mn(II).
