"A novel? No, my life..." Migrant women's life stories

This article compares and contrasts two forms of migration narratives: those written by the protagonists, and those produced by researchers from interviews. Although these do not give rise to the same issues, they both involve narrative fictions that can distinguish one from the other whilst also highlighting similarities. Whether recounted through an interview or written, life stories, a point of commonality in the narratives stems from the attention paid by the women to their trajectories in relation to writing. Thus there were women, encountered via language classes, who talk about writing or women who provided a written work. What impact does direct interaction with a third party entail? What impediments does writing cause when the author is not anonymous? The issue of the relationship with the searcher and/or the potential reader will be discussed in this article.
