摘要
An improved macro traffic flow model is presented in this paper. According to the improved model and phase plane diagrams, the stability analysis of various traffic phenomena can be carried out directly. There is a one-to-one relationship between the traffic congestion and the unstable system in the phase plane. In order to illustrate this new method further, the well-known stop-and-go waves are analyzed in phase plane. Comparing with temporal evolution of vehicle density shows that the traffic phenomena described by the new method are consistent with that described by traditional method.
