Methylphenidate as a potential treatment for cluster headache

Cluster headache is a potentially debilitating condition that can lead to restrictions in occupational and day-to-day function. Here, the authors outline a case of a significant reduction in headache frequency in a patient who had an incomplete response to NICE-recommended treatments, and was treated for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder with stimulant medications. This article builds on a small number of case reports indicating a potential role for stimulant medications such as methylphenidate in the management of cluster headache.
