Outage Analysis of AF Relayed Hybrid VLC-RF Communication System for E-Health Applications

摘要
In this paper, we model a dual-hop hybrid visible light communication-radio frequency (VLC-RF) system which provides a good solution to communicate laboratory test results from the laboratories to patients in no time. In this system, the data is transmitted from laboratory via an RF uplink to an amplify and forward relay node which further forwards it to the patient in the form of light using VLC downlink. We analyzed the statistical characteristics of end-to-end signal to noise ratio at the destination in terms of moment generating function and cumulative distribution function and derived the analytical expression for outage probability of the system. Further, we investigated the effect of various parameters on the system performance through numerical simulations.
