We live in a new-media information age, where business, entertainment and communication is increasingly being mediated by technology. Higher education has generally been slow to adopt the full potential that such everyday technology has to offer. When appropriately used, technology can greatly enhance the educational experience. This requires careful selection of technology, coupled with a pedagogy and course design that recognizes the strengths and limitations of e-learning environments. Technology that enhances educational delivery can add value and serve pedagogical goals, enhance the educational experience for learner and instructor, and promote collaborative, real world application of scientific knowledge to specific contexts, situations and communities. The tendency in technical and leadership learning has been to foster logical, analytical decision-making, without stimulating the emotional. Technology-enabled rich media can help overcome that deficit, and contribute to the refinement of decision-making in conditions of complexity and uncertainty.
