摘要
Key Practitioner Messages High profile media cases can alter the referral patterns for child protection medical assessment. Although the increase in the total number of referrals may not be surprising, the increase in the proportion of children with signs suggestive of non-accidental injury is worrying. Ideally, evidenced based guidelines for the referral of children for child protection medical assessments should be formulated. Failing this, a strong inter-disciplinary working relationship may improve consistency in referral patterns.
