Essential oils of the leaves and seeds of Ferula oopoda (Boiss. & Buhse) Boiss. and Ferula badghysi (Korovin.), growing wild in Iran, were separately obtained by hydrodistillation and analyzed by GC and GC-MS. A total of 25 components were identified in the essential oils of the investigated organs. The main components of the leaf oils of Ferula oopoda and Ferula badghysi were beta-phellandrene (22.4 % and 21.7 %), thymol-methyl ether (15.3 % and 13.8 %) and myrcene (8.7 % and 13.5 %), respectively. Also alpha-ylangene (11.3 %) was found in large amount in the leaf oil of F. badghysi but not found in the oil of F. oopoda. Furthermore, the major constituents of the seed oils of F. oopoda and F. badghysi were myrcene (36.1 % and 32.8 %), beta-phellandrene (28.2 % and 24.1 %) and germacrene D (5.5 % and 6.8 %), respectively. As a result, beta-phellandrene and myrcene were common as the major constituents in the oil samples and all the oils were richer in monoterpenes than sesquiterpenes.
