摘要：

The timing of surgery in relation to the menstrual cycle is a novel avenue to understanding breast cancer biology Ultimately, the timing of surgery may affect patient care. A meta-analysis of published studies suggests a reduction in breast cancer mortality of 15 +/- 4%. The implication of these studies is the importance of events at the time of surgery for determining long-term survival-a paradigm contrary to the conventional theory of biological predeterminism.
