Several studies have discussed about the importance of transmission electron microscopy in the field of nephropathology. In the 90's, became a fundamental tool for the diagnosis of new entities, such as fibrillary glomerulonephritis / immunotactoid. The aim of this study was to review the major ultrastructural criteria necessary for the diagnosis of glomerular disease entities in which transmission electron microscopy is essential, establishing also the main subcellular findings that differentiate them from other glomerular diseases.
