Chiral separation of sibutramine enantiomers with β-cyclodextrin as chiral selector in high performance liquid chromatography using non-chiral column

By adding beta-cyclodextrin as chiral selector into mobile phase, sibutramine enantiomers, were separated using non-chiral C, column in high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). In the mobile phase composed of methanol-H2O (10:90, V/V) containing 0.8 mmol/L beta-cyclodextrin at pH 3.6, the two enantiomers were well separated in 5 minutes with 3.2 of resolution. The mechanism of chiral separation through adding chiral selector into mobile phase was also discussed.
