Synthesis and Characterization of Clubbed Thiazolidin-4-one, Quinoline and Barbitone Derivatives as a Potent Antimicrobial Agents

摘要
In the present investigation, it was of interest to synthesized some new derivatives of pyrimidine2,4,6( 1H,3H,5H)-trione moiety incorporated with different biologically active pharmacophores such as thiazolidin-4-one, barbitone and 2-chloroquinoline-3-carbaldehyde. The structures of synthesized compounds were elucidated by IR, H-1 NMR, C-13 NMR, and mass spectral data. Antimicrobial screening of title compounds were examined against Gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes), Gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa), and three fungal species (Candida albicans, Aspergillus niger, and Aspergillus clavatus) by serial broth dilution method. Compounds 6b, 6e, 6f and 6h were associated with considerably higher antibacterial and antifungal activities.
