The large-scale structure of the heliosphere

The interaction of the solar wind with the local interstellar medium (LISM) is attracting increasing interest, thanks to the possibility that the Voyager-spacecraft may, in the not, too distant future, cross the termination shock. This has spurred the development of increasingly sophisticated models which attempt to describe the large-scale structure of the heliosphere. In this review, we describe recent results obtained by a variety of groups engaged in modelling the large-scale interaction of the solar wind with the LISM. This includes 2D and 3D gas dynamic models, MHD models, and the role of interstellar neutrals.
