摘要:
The adoption and usage of Automatic Identification System (AIS) plays a major role in providing safety in marine transportation. However, it is costly and not economical for small vessel operators. This paper aims to provide a low-cost alternative in the market by making use of open source software (OSS) to implement the AIS data transfer protocol as defined by ITU-R M.1371. The protocol was implemented using an Infineon XMC microcontroller to handle the processes of transmission and reception of AIS messages. Based on the comparison of the input and output AIS messages for verifying the implementation, no mismatch were found in the transmission and reception. The results proved the accuracy of the OSS-built realization of the protocol.
