Dr Oliver Sacks was born in London to a family of physicians and scientists. He earned his medical degree at Oxford University, and has lived in New York since 1965. As a neurologist, he has written extensively on the struggles of human beings afflicted by Tourette's Syndrome, autism, parkinsonism, musical hallucination, Alzheimer's Disease, and many other conditions. His latest book examines the deep and complex relationship between music and the human brain. CBC Radio's Eric Friesen, host of Studio Sparks, recently interviewed him in Ottawa.
