摘要
Electromagnetic induction in the context of metal nanostructures and metamaterials is discussed. Pitfalls in the description of the excitation of current modes in such structures are pointed out. Areas of concern include the lack of complete conduction loops and excitation by plane waves versus uniform fields. A particular example, related to ongoing metamaterial research on vertically stacked horizontal wire pairs and vertical columns, is discussed. These discussions will aid in the presentation of metamaterial concepts.
