A* decoding of block codes with general threshold

摘要
An improved A* decoding algorithm is described for binary block codes that performs maximum-likelihood soft-decision decoding through a code tree. Optimality test on a new candidate code-word is presented aiming to speed up search of the most likely (ML) codeword. Simulation results show that the proposed decoding scheme achieves optimal performance meanwhile significantly reducing decoding complexity compared with A* decoding available.
