BIOMASS USAGE AND ITS IMPACTS ON RURAL DEVELOPMENT

Biomass local production systems could be seen as an appropriate alternative that can contribute to solve socio-economic problems especially of rural regions. The operational framework for biomass local production systems in Slovak rural areas is missing. The main aim of this paper is to make general proposal of biomass local production system and write about its impacts on rural development. From methodological point of view we used deductive approach. Official statistical data from Eurostat and Statistical office of Slovak republic were used and we realized personal interviews with managers and employees of entities with biomass heating systems in rural areas of Banska Bystrica region. The article includes remarks about impacts and effects of biomass usage. The article brings practical experiences of rural biomass local production system in Banska Bystrica region.
