摘要
-This paper presents a printed microstrip-fed heart shaped monopole antenna for ultra-wideband (UWB) applications. The printed monopole antenna consists of a heart shaped radiating patch with a microstrip feeding line and an elliptical curved ground plane to improve the impedance bandwidth. Commercial software ANSYS HFSS is used to analyze and design this antenna. Measured results of the fabricated antenna show good agreement with simulated ones. It is shown that the antenna has a wide impedance bandwidth of 9.1 GHz starting from 2.8 to 11.9 GHz for a return loss of better than 10 dB and gain flatness over the frequency range. Furthermore, by etching an annular slot loaded with a varactor diode on the radiating patch, a printed UWB antenna with reconfigurable band notch can be achieved.
