摘要
This articles presents a survey on the role of the librarian in research data management and curation. This is a bibliographic research based on the methodology of systematic review and whose search was conducted in the Web of Science database. Among the documents analyzed were studies, researches and experience reports on research data management and curation, and on training of librarians to act in this new niche of work. The results show that there are still few articles retrieved from that database that explicitly mention the term data librarian, although there are many studies on Data Management and curation. Few documents have been found that have featured the phrases data manager and data curator. The review showed that in the United States and Europe the discussions and actions of librarians acting as curators and research data managers are already well advanced, unlike in Brazil and in other Latin American countries. On the other hand, in the United States and Europe, open access policies and strategies were very slow in comparison to Latin American countries, where Brazil is a pioneer and has had active participation in the open access movement. Librarians are shown to perform a new role as specialists in documentation and information, as data specialists and as specialists in the creation of repositories, giving proof of their experiences in data description, in the implementation of data services and in the support of researchers's needs.
