"Now I am a child of war and a woman of war...": Testimony of Chernihiv woman N about life in a surrounded city (February 24 - April 2, 2022)

The purpose of the publication is to show the true story of human survival in Chernihiv region during the full-scale invasion of Russian troops (February 24 - April 2, 2022). The method of interviewing a resident of the private sector of the Chernihiv microdistrict Bobrovytsia was used. The result of the research was eyewitness testimony of active hostilities, destruction and the return of the city to life after its liberation. Survival strategies in extreme conditions include outdated or forgotten home heating techniques, methods of daily food preparation and preservation, personal hygiene, and principles of neighborly mutual aid. The lack of centralized water supply caused particular discomfort. Methods of collecting rainwater, using one mug for various needs, including personal hygiene, cleaning, watering poultry, are mentioned. Despite the difficult events she experienced, the Chernihiv woman does not lose her optimism, makes plans to restore her home, and continues to grow vegetables. The practical significance lies in the formation of a source base for the study of everyday extreme situations and resistance to Russian aggression.
