摘要
In recent years, the use of airborne LiDAR to measure forest characteristics has been rapidly increasing. Outlining the canopies and differentiating high vegetation from understory vegetation in a specific area makes it easier to understand how heterogeneous or homogeneous a forest is. Consequently, it will be possible to have a better visualization of dangerous areas that require special attention regarding fire management issues. The study area is located in the Sooke Watershed, close to the city of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. The objective of this paper is to develop and test an algorithm to identify individual trees and in delineate their canopies.
