ESPRIT-based direction finding and polarization estimation for multisource with a uniform circular array of trimmed vector sensors

摘要
This paper introduces a novel Esprit-based close-form algorithm that implements the direction-of-arrival (DOA) and polarization estimation for multisource with a uniform circular array of trimmed vector sensors. A trimmed vector sensor consists of a dipole and a loop. which are spatially co-located nonisotropic polarization- sensitive antennas respectively measuring the z-axial electric field component and the z-axial magnetic field component of the incident wave field in Cartesian coordinates. By exploiting the invariance properties among the dipoles and loops outputs of the uniform circular array, the proposed algorithm successfully estimates the arrival angles and polarization angles of closely-spaced sources. In addition, the proposed algorithm reduces the Computational complexity and offers comparable performance as the optimal methods (such as ML method) at low-SNR. Simulation results justify the viability and correctness of the new method.
