Currently, with the rapid development of science and technology, there is fierce competition among talents In universities. To grasp challenges and opportunities in new technology revolution, occupy the leading technology and science, and cultivate a large number of innovative spirit and practical ability of high-quality talents, have become an urgent demand to realize the national development strategy in China in the 21st century. The trimester system, which aim is to improve talents training mode constantly, deepen the reform of credit system, and improve education quality of teaching comprehensively, has been implemented in Shandong University at Weihai since 2007. Its purpose is to solve the prominent contradictions and problems in the talent training through the system innovation and relevant teaching reform. It can improve the innovative talent training system and education quality of teaching continuously. The trimester system provides a good opportunity and development platform for the training of science technology oriented, training type and practice oriented talents. It provides an important direction for the implementation of quality education of students in universities of China. This paper discusses the mode of the creative engineering talents training under "the trimester system" based on the case of the Mechanical and Electrical Engineering School of Shandong University at Weihai.
