Two new 1D structures of copper(II) or yttrium(III) phosphonatobenzenesulfonates using 1,10-phenanthroline as auxilary ligand

摘要
Two new metal phosphonatobenzenesulfonates using 1,10-phenanthroline as auxilary ligand, namely, [Cu(HL)(phen)]center dot 0.5H(2)O (1) and [Y(L)(phen)(H2O)(2)]center dot 2H(2)O (2) (H3L = m-HO3S-C6H4-PO3H2, phen = 1, 10-phenanthroline), have been synthesized by hydrothermal reactions. Different to the OD cluster structures in the "Mn+-H3L-phen-H2O" system (Mn+ = Mn-II, Zn-II, Cd-II, Pb-II or Ln(III)) previously reported, both compounds here feature one-dimensional chain-like structure. The ID chain structure in 1 features Cu-2(PO3)(2) dimers fused by the bridging of pairs of bidentate phosphonate groups, which are further interconnected via pairs of monodentate sulfonate groups. In contrast, the 1D chain in 2 features an edge-shared four-membered ring which is composed of two Y-III ions and two tridentate phosphonate groups. The different 1D chain structures in them are mainly due to the various coordination modes of the 3-phosphonobenzesulfonic acid ligand. (c) 2008 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
