Ferrocenylmethylene containing ketones were achieved by the reactions of ferrocenecarboxaldehyde with compounds containing active methylene group, such as barbituric acid (2a), thiobarbituric acid (2b), 2,2-dimethyl-1, 3-dioxane-4, 6-dione (2c), 3-methyl-1-phenyl-2-pyrazoline-5-one (2d), ethyl cyarroacetate (2e), 2,4-pentandione (2f), cyclohexanone (2g) and cyclopentanone (2h) in aqueous solution with good yields. The structures of products were confirmed by H-1 NMR, C-13 NMR, IR spectra and elemental analysis.
