摘要
A combined processing scheme was used to develop polyurethane (PU) coatings reinforced with nanoclay in three different weight percentages (1, 3 and 5 wt %). TEM of polymernanoclay suspensions shows exfoliation, intercalation and even agglomeration of clay layers. XRD studies indicated expansion in gallery spacing of nanoclay layers in PU coatings. Improvement in scratch and mar resistance occurred, although the gloss values were reduced to some extent. Coating properties show improvement with addition of less than 3wt% clay content.
