Molecular gas in the barred spiral galaxy M 83

摘要：
We have mapped the barred spiral M83 in the CO(1-0) and CO(2-1) lines, with a spacing loss than 1/3 beam width, using the Swedish-ESO Submillimetre Telescope (SEST). The coverage in CO(1-0) is complete out to a radius of 4.'5 (roughly the extent of the optical disk) and in CO(2-1) the inner 4' x 3' (the bar and inner arm region) has been mapped. The distribution and kinematics of the molecular gas is presented.
