Preparation and Properties of ZrO2-Al2O3 Composite Ceramic Coatings on 6061 Aluminum Alloy Surface

摘要
ZrO2-Al2O3 composite ceramic coatings on 6061 Al alloy surface were formed in situ by micro-arc oxidation. Phase composition, morphology, microhardness and young modulus of the ceramic coatings were investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and nano-indentation. The results show that ceramic coatings consist of dense layer and porous layer, and there are many micro-pore distributing on the surface. The ceramic coatings are mainly composed of t-ZrO2, gamma-Al2O3 and alpha-Al2O3. Microhardness and young modulus are 19.569 and 307.927 GPa, respectively, and they are 8 times and 3 times as that of the 6061 aluminum alloy. Furthermore, the ceramic coatings also have higher thermal shock resistance and wear resistance.
