摘要：
Many prehistoric units of length have been described by archaeologists and much confusion has been produced by giving them different names, even to units of similar lengths that were discovered on different sites. These units are reviewed, beginning with the oldest, the Megalithic yard. Two mathematical methods are described, one based on statistical analysis, which is hoped will bring order to this research.
