Peculiarities of Team Work in Project Based Studies at the International Studies Centre (KTU)

Experience of delivering the course of design studies in the area of mechanical engineering under the study programme "Export Engineering" offered by the International Studies centre of Kaunas University of Technology is discussed in the paper. Objectives of the programme to be competent in innovative products and technologies development set the requirement to form sufficient abilities and skills in modern methodology of mechanical engineering design. Nevertheless the traditional way of teaching "Machine Elements 2" - the course which is the main to give "basics of design" does not meet the objectives fully. As a solution way team work and project based study of the course is introduced. The results achieved prove this method to be one of the possible solutions in the situation presented.
