摘要
Sugarcane bagasse ash (SBA) is a waste material of the sugar and alcohol industries. All the researchers reported that SBA when tested in the lab for the elemental composition it was observed that silica was present in huge quantities. Many researchers had investigated on the properties of SBA.SBA had pozzolanic properties and when the silica reacts with free lime (after initial reaction) in the presence of water, it behaves as binding material. The microstructural analysis of SBA provides the information related to presence of different elements. The presence of silica gives the scope of partial replacement of cement. The effect of partially replacing the cement by SBA was observed in mortar. It was replaced by the different researchers in different percentages. This paper provides a brief overview of the utilization of SBA in different ways in concrete. Bagasse ash was used as a partial replacement for cement. The studies mainly aim to determine the behavior of SBA by conducting the different technique such as x-ray diffraction, x-ray fluorescence and pozzolanic activity. The microstructural behavior was observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive x-ay spectroscopy analysis. The physical and chemical properties of SBA were observed and compared. The different research considered the variation of water-cement ratio from 0.35 to 0.50 and the percentage of bagasse ash varies from 5 to 30 per cent. The effect of SBA on the fresh concrete was observed and the strength variation on replacing the cement by SBA was graphically analyzed. The influence of SBA on mortar and concrete was analyzed. The graphical analysis was done in the view of different innovative work done by the researchers in the field of concrete. Copyright (C) 2022 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
