The turbulent energy cascade built by a vortex burst

摘要
We present an experiment where a stretched vortex is experiencing quasi-periodical turbulent bursts inside a laminar environment. The flow is characterized in the spectral and spatial domain using hot film and Particle Image Velocimetry Measurements. Some comparisons with the Lundgen vortex energy cascade mechanism are proposed.
