摘要
In this study, we aimed to investigate whether HDL-C levels of non-diabetic and type 2 diabetic Turks are as low as those of non-diabetic Turks reported in Turkish Heart Study (THS) and Turkish Adult Risk Factor Sudy (TEKHARF). Total cholesterol (TC), LDL-C, HDL-C, triglyceride (TG) levels and TC/HDL-C ratios were evaluated in non-diabetic and newly diagnosed type 2 diabetic Turks with poor glycemic regulation (HbA1c a parts per thousand yenaEuro parts per thousand 8.5 %) before beginning treatment. The mean HDL-C levels and TC/HDL-C ratios of nondiabetic and diabetic women were 56.32 +/- 13.08 mg/dL, 3.95 +/- 1.15 and 47.15 +/- 11.0 mg/dL, 4.42 +/- 1.39 respectively. The mean HDL-C levels and TC/HDL-C ratios of nondiabetic and diabetic men were 47.0 +/- 11.3 mg/dL, 4.55 +/- 1.11 and 41.41 +/- 10.1 mg/dL, 4.95 +/- 1.39 respectively. HDL-C levels of diabetic women and men were lower than those of nondiabetic women and men (P < 0.0001 and P = 0.0024). TC/HDL-C ratios of diabetic women and men were higher than those of nondiabetic women and men (P = 0.00025 and P = 0.0135) Conclusion The HDL-C levels of nondiabetic and newly diagnosed type 2 diabetic Turks with poor glycemic regulation were not detected to be as low as HDL-C levels of nondiabetic Turks in the THS and TEKHARF studies.
