Luminescence properties of ZTA ceramics

摘要
Two sets of high-density zirconia-toughened alumina ceramics are investigated by photoluminescence experiments. Luminescence of the ceramic can be understood on the basis of mixed luminescence from the Al2O3 and ZrO2 components. For the former, most details of the luminescence are consistent with the predictions of crystal field theory for Cr3+ ions in Al2O3. For ZrO2, the luminescence decay curves are multi-exponential and the composed character of emission spectra is confirmed.
