摘要：

In this paper; we discuss the method to restore color of a scanned book image taken by an image scanner. Especially we shore the color restoration methods in cases of the achromatic or chromatic background color and the specular book surface. In our proposed Method, the background color is extracted as the one with the highest frequency, and the color in the book image is restored by using its profiles. The specular reflection can be restored by using the saturation profile of the background color or the mathematical model of specular component profile. The color restoration experiments are performed by using various background color images, and we confirm the effectiveness of the proposed method.
