A stochastic compartmental model for dynamic biological systems

摘要
A stochastic compartmental model for the description of the dynamic behavior of a biological system is derived. The model proposed comprises a series of N pairs of compartment-subcompartment, which simulates a wide class of biological systems, and in the limiting case it reduces to the conventional compartmental model. On the basis of the stochastic equations obtained, the temporal variations in both the mean and the variance of the number of entities in a biological system are derived through a systematic approach. An example is presented to illustrate the applicability of the present model.
