The absorption and fluorescence spectra of Yb2+ in AYbI(3) (A = K, Rb, Cs) in the solid state were measured. The level structures of the Yb2+ ion in iodide crystals were obtained, according to the J(1) Gamma(n) hypothesis on the lower crystal symmetry. At the same time, the spectra were assigned by the level diagrams.
