CONSIDERATIONS ON THE PERFORMANCE EVALUATION WITHIN HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS

摘要
The quality philosophy has gained a larger applicability within higher education institutions. The transfer of these principles and practices from the economic field to the educational one and the implementation and development of various models of quality management systems that assess and improve the performance level achieved by higher education institutions, have been lately intensified by the increased competitive nature of today's business environment. Taking into consideration these aspects, the authors aim at presenting the actual stage regarding the performance evaluation in higher education institutions, the guidelines of the EU policy referring to the performance assessment and improvement of these institutions, and the approaches related to higher education performance evaluation from the point of view of defining an educational quality model.
