THE STATE AND ITS REGIONALIZATIONS: AN ANALYSIS OF THE INTEGRATED REGION OF DEVELOPMENT OF BRASILIA (RIDE-DF)

This work aims to analyze the process of institutionalization of regions performed by the State having as example the case of the Integrated Region of Development of Brasilia (Ride-DF). This analysis has as context the renewal of the concepts of territory and region, considering the effects of a more fragmented production of space, and its relations with the State There is also a history of low effectiveness of State actions in Ride-OF, suggesting stress between the institutionalized region and the spatial processes in this region currently underway. This work has two premises: the production of this region absorbs the main characteristics of the Brazilian State in producing regiong this region reflects the low capacity of the State to deal with complex regional realities, in which multiple producing processes of the regions and territories operate The results point to the institutionalization of Ride-OF as the result of a rigid model linking the Brazilian State and its regions, with difficulties in considering both territory and region as fragmented. This becomes clear by perceiving that the space under analysis is actually produced by three main processes: the metropolitan expansion of Brasilia, the expansion of modern agriculture and the integration of the axis Brasilia-Anapolis-Goiania.
