摘要
This article reports the systematic process followed and the outcomes achieved in the form a new learning programme in Logistics and Transportation Management and its associated implications for a University of Technology in South Africa. The formulation of the new learning programme was based on the principles that graduates are immediately oriented towards specific competencies required in the workplace, enabling them to be professionally relevant having the broad ability to apply knowledge across situations. A systematic process of bench marking, need analysis, industry requirements, stakeholders' consultation, and viability analysis was followed for the purpose. It was observed that the new learning programme leading to a qualification in Advanced Diploma in Logistics and Transportation Management would be a unique, viable and sustainable inter-multi-trans disciplinary academic programme in South Africa which shall enrich the higher education scene and alleviate the problem of lack of adequately knowledgeable and trained personnel in the particular field.
