摘要
In 2011, Germany's constitutional court ruled against compulsory medication in mental health law. In Baden-Wurttemberg, one of Germany's Lander, henceforth compulsory treatment for detained patients was practically impossible in all but the most life-threatening situations. Three case reports outline how the treatment of severely mentally ill patients detained in hospital has changed since. In all three cases consensual treatment could be achieved with lengthy, patient and reassured negotiation.
