摘要
Absolute photoionization measurements of singly and doubly charged atomic ions are described. The focus of this article is in two areas: ions of astrophysical interest, where the results of large scale computational projects such as the OPACITY [J. Phys. B: At. Mol. Phys. 20 (1987) 6409] and IRON [Phys. Rev. A 49 (1994) 1816] projects are compared with experiment, and phenomena associated with ionization of the 4d shell along isoelectronic and isonuclear sequences. The contribution that absolute measurements have made both in the interpretation of spectral structure and guiding theoretical calculations is also highlighted. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science B.V.
