The effect of phytogenic feed supplements containing Macleaya cordata (Sangrovit (R)), added to feed rations with a suboptimal content of essential amino acids, was determined during a five-week experiment on Ross broilers. The evaluation was made based on the fattening and slaughter parameters of birds. The diets for the experimental group were supplemented with 20 mg of the Macleaya cordata preparation per kg of feed. Due to the suboptimal content of amino acids in the rations, the performance parameters (final body weight, feed conversion ratio) of broilers were found to be lower than the standards established by a broiler breeder company. Dietary supplementation with Macleaya cordata had no impact on the examined parameters under the experimental conditions (ration with suboptimal contents). Therefore, the amino acid sparing effect was not achieved when the biologically active substances of Macleaya cordata were used.
