摘要
The Dutch Sub-Fossil Forests (SFF) Project was initiated in 1992. The aim of the project was to extend oak tree-ring chronologies in the Netherlands back in time, using tree-ring data of known origin. One of the results of the project is an 1100-yr bog oak chronology that runs from the Late Neolithic Period to the Middle Bronze Age (2258-1141 BC). The overall value for its expressed population signal (EPS) is high. The values for EPS and sample depth at different times, however, indicate that more samples should be included in order for EPS to reach acceptable levels at some intervals of the chronology. The results of the statistical analysis indicate that for a long chronology, which in part consists of series that do not overlap, an overall estimate of the signal may result in values that overestimate the actual chronology signal.
