Origin of terrestrial planets and the Earth-Moon system

摘要：
The emergence of four solid planets through collisions and accretion is discussed. The early Solar System consisted of newly formed Sun and an orbiting disk of gas and dust as suggested by stellar formation processes and observations of other young stars. According to the impact theory the collision that created the Moon is the primary source of the angular momemtum of the Earth-Moon system. The expected impact velocity is around 10 km/s and both torques and vaporization are important for a lunar-forming impact.
