Spanish adaptation of the behavioural dimension of the Displaced Aggression Questionnaire: Analysis of validity with general and on-the-road measures of anger and aggression

The present study examined the psychometric fit of the behavioural dimension of the Displaced Aggression Questionnaire (Denson, Pedersen, & Miller, 2006) -a 10-item scale that measures the frequency of displaced aggression-in a Spanish sample composed of 285 participants. Confirmatory factor analysis showed good fit for a single factor, with a satisfactory internal consistency (alpha = .93). In order to test the validity, general and on-the-road anger and aggression measures were applied. The results showed high convergent and discriminant validity, both with respect to ways of behaving (being more strongly associated with on-the-road displaced aggression than with the rest of ways of aggression in this context) and context (being more strongly correlated with general measures than with on-the-road measures). The results suggest that this instrument is recommended to measure this construct.
