摘要
The capital cost of a post-combustion capture system using amine-based solvents is directly related to the kinetics of the absorption process. Carbon dioxide hydration catalysts and enzymes have shown promise in increasing absorption kinetics. However, despite the fast kinetics of the enzyme systems severe limitations exist. We have developed transition metal mimics of carbonic anhydrase which circumvent the limitations observed in the enzyme system. Zinc- and cobalt-derived complexes have been synthesized that are soluble and stable in amine-based carbon capture solvents, and provide enhancements in the overall mass transfer by up to 34%.
